DIY Chicken Tractors is our second success in our quest to re-design the traditional chicken coop into a home for chickens that is environmentally friendly and makes you proud to display in your backyard. We believe most "traditional" chicken coops are bit boring and, dare we say, unattractive... and, most chicken coops on the market have little to do with recycling.

The first coop we designed is called the Green Roof Chicken Coop, and you will find "Green Roof" plans, kits and assembled coops at our other website. The idea behind the Green Roof Chicken coop was to create a smart looking coop that includes a garden as its roof.

After working closely with our Green Roof customers, we realized that we could continue down our path of environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing chicken coop design with a slightly different spin. Unlike most chicken coops, our DIY Chicken Tractors are amazingly portable, and we believe quite an attractive addition to any backyard.

The portability of a DIY Chicken Tractor is one of the primary benefits of our new design. Relocating your coop periodically presents a new source of vegetation and grubs for your flock to feed on, and it keeps your backyard well fertilized, but not overrun with chicken manure.

Like our original "Green Roof" design, this Chicken Tractor is an idea that two high school best friends had after getting fed up with the way commercial eggs are harvested. If any of you have ever been to a commercial egg farm or poultry slaughterhouse, you'll know exactly what we're referring to.

As you'll see from our site, DIY Chicken Tractors are not only more attractive than everything else on the market, but they are also more functional.

The funny thing is that neither of us ever thought selling chicken coops, kits and plans was a real business. All we wanted was a cool chicken coop in each of our backyards. It was our friends and neighbors that convinced us to try to share this design on the Internet. They all loved it so much, that we decided to give it a shot!

I should also mention... our kids LOVE the chickens. Honestly, we didn't go into the project thinking we'd end us with new backyard pets, but that's exactly what happened.
